Private William Townsend a soldier from the parish, who died in the First World War.

Private William Townsend of the 8th Bn. Princess Charlotte of Wales (Royal Berks.) Regiment. Died 19 July 1916
aged 20 during the Battle of the Somme. Buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery France.
